The Beige Herekeh
Hereke was founded in the 1840s to weave for the Ottoman palace, and its silk rugs remain the standard by which fineness is judged. This example works in the workshop's gentlest register — salmon and ivory, a lobed medallion floating on a field of floral tracery at six hundred knots to the square inch.
